Semen is collected from the male, checked under the microscope and inseminated into the female.

Q: When is it best to start?
It is recommended to have the first consultation around six days after the beginning of the heat cycle. Sound too early? Well, always better sooner than later. Unfortunately, some bitches might ovulate as soon as this in their estrous cycle.
Q: Why do dogs have fertility issues?
Most issues tend to be more common among older dogs. For example, uterine cysts, which can cause infertility in female dogs, are more common among dogs 6 years of age and older. Preexisting medical conditions including uterine infections can also lead to dog fertility issues.
Q: What is a stud dog?
A Stud dog is a registered male dog retained for breeding. A stud dog is intact, meaning castrated and will be able to mate with a female bitch that its on heat. The stud dogs are required to be between 7 months to 12 years old, but most importantly, healthy.
